Your Safety
At Galapagos Direct, we take your safety seriously. Ecuador has proven to be generally safe for tourists, but sensible precautions are important. We suggest to our clients that they wear modest clothing, leave valuables at home, carry passport, cash and credit cards on their person, especially when moving about downtown city areas. Being with our competent guides means one will not be harassed by strangers and personal belongings are always safe in our private vans. Car rental is not advised for visitors as rental cars are easily identified, road services are poor and foreign visitors are perceived as targets for pick-pockets and scams. Whether you opt for your own, private guide, or to travel with a group, you can fully depend on arrangements.

Our guides take great pleasure in sharing their depth of knowledge, love and pride of their country with you. In the Galapagos Islands, you can expect the same level of expertise on your first class cruise. Your island guide can accompany no more than sixteen on island site visits, so will be assured of personal attention.
Travel Insurance
Because travel is becoming more complicated and delays are common, we suggest consideration of travel insurance. Travel in Ecuador that involves a Galapagos Islands cruise, means that a state-side flight delay can mean losing most or all of your cruise! At Galapagos Direct, we work specifically with Travelex Insurance, a company that has proven very responsive to clients. Travelex offers full, free coverage
to children under 21 years of age, at the time of travel and traveling with travel-insured parents. Group policies offer major savings and one may opt for "Cancel for Any Reason" coverage. We will be happy to research and confirm the best plan based on individual situation and needs.
