Art and Creativity Workshop Report

The art and creativity workshop, funded by Galapagos Direct through Mrs. Judie
Muggia, took place in Puerto Ayora, at the public library "Biblioteca para
Galápagos y el Mundo", run the Municipality of Santa Cruz. 25 children,
between 6 and 14 years old, attended the workshop between 31 January and 11 February.
Under the name "Which is Your Favorite Animal?", the children, with the help of
their teacher, Matilde Ampuero, started researching about animals from the
Galapagos and elsewhere. Dolphins, sharks, jellyfish, and tigers, elephants,
and ducklings began taking shape with the aid of colourful plastiline, cardboxes,
paper, and paints.
Above and Under Water
The workshop was inaugurated by Desirée Cruz and Vicente Logroño, Director
of Culture and Communications of the Municipality of Santa Cruz.

The last day,
and exhibition of the students' work was organized. It was attended by the
children's parents. Desirée Cruz and Ivonne Torres, Director of Sustainable
Development of the Municipality of Santa Cruz, thanked the students, the
parents, and the instructor for the effort and enthusiasm put into those two
weeks.
Desirée Cruz provided the instructor room and board. The Municipality of Santa
Cruz provided the library for the workshop to take place.
